Katie Taylor returned to the ring this weekend against Argentian fighter Karen Elizabeth Carbajal. Taylor put on a show and entertained fans in a packed-out Wembley OVO Arena and she showed why she was in a different class. From the offset Taylor dominated the fight unleashing quick flurries of punches on Carbajal and invading any returning fire with her superior and quick feet Taylor was never really troubled and anywhere the fight went Taylor was able to follow.
Carbajal was tough and give it her best but Taylor was just a class above. Taylor last fought in Maddison Square Garden against Amanda Serrano in a tough and close battle which Taylor ended up winning many disagreed with the decision and instead had the fight in favour of Serrano but that is a story that will be revisited for another day. Taylor won the fight against Carbajal comfortably by unanimous decision (100-91 99,91 98-92)
What’s next for Katie Taylor
Two words. Croke Park. Katie Taylor said “regardless if it’s against Amanda Serrano or not we want the fight at Croke Park. 80,000 people. That’ll be the biggest event in woman’s boxing history” the last fight was so close between Taylor and Serrano so I as a fan really do hope it is against Serrano at Croke Park. but there are other names it could be as Chantelle Cameron or Jessica Mccaskill who are scheduled to face off against each other on November 5th at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi for the Undisputed Flyweight Championship there are many fighters that could be on Taylor’s potential hitlist but whoever the next opponent could be if it’s at Croak Park it’s sure to create history not just for woman’s boxing but boxing as a whole and it’ll be a fight you don’t want to miss. Stay tuned.
